Firefox lernt Instant Messaging - Firefox-Erweiterung bindet Meebo als Sidebar ein

Der Web-Instant-Messenger Meebo macht sich auf in die Offline-Welt und kann über eine Erweiterung nun in Firefox genutzt werden. Über eine Sidebar stehen alle Funktionen bereit, um Nutzer über die Netze von ICQ, Windows Live Messenger alias MSN Messenger, AOL Instant Messenger oder den Yahoo Messenger zu erreichen. Auch das Jabber-Protokoll wird unterstützt.

Die Firefox-Erweiterung namens Meebo integriert sich als Sidebar in Firefox und stellt alle Funktionen bereit, die auch von dem Online-Instant-Messenger bekannt sind. Über optische Benachrichtigungen werden Nutzer darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass neue Nachrichten eingegangen sind. Zudem lassen sich Bilder und auch URLs direkt per Instant Messaging verschicken, indem diese per Drag-and-Drop in ein entsprechendes Chat-Fenster gezogen werden.

Die Erweiterung Meebo steht ab sofort in der Version 1.0 als Download zur Verfügung und kann direkt in Firefox integriert werden. Der Browser muss mindestens in der Version 1.5 vorliegen.
